Vegan Brownie Recipes

BEWARE: These are NOT vegan and are NOT dairy-free

I am a conventional (from-scratch) baker trying out vegan recipes for some clients who've requested them. I was very surprised to see that this recipe uses a commercial mix, so I did some sleuthing at the grocery store: Giardhelli Brownies (and chips) ALL contain milk products/solids (the warning about dairy appears on ea box, all varieties). In addition, as a commercial product, they contain white sugar (my understanding is that only raw sugar is vegan--white sugar uses animal bone to "bleach" it...and commercial brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses added). So, if you are either sensitive to dairy or VEGAN (as opposed to "vegan"), this recipe is NOT for you! Sorry "bakingsecrets", but sadly you can't "vegan-ize" any traditional brand commercial mixes I have seen (for the sugar issue alone)...But if you are looking for good VEGAN brownies and info on vegan baking, I recommend: veganbaking.net for Mattie's "Ultimate Vegan Brownies", or KingArthur.com for their vegan chocolate cake.
