Braided Pesto Bread
Bites From Around The Web
Braided Pesto BreadThis bread is one of the best things I've made recently. The lemon basil pesto is braided into a (mostly) whole grain bread for a tasty treat. Perfect for snacking on plain or toasted with some melted vegan cheese. The bread highlights the lemon basil really nicely, but the recipe would also be great with traditional pesto if you can't get your hands on the lemon variety.

Buttermilk PancakesThese pancakes take advantage of soy milk's ability to curdle when exposed to acids. You can choose lemon juice or even cream of tartar as your acid of choice but I prefer the additional flavor complexity that apple cider vinegar contributes. Buttermilk flavor is also enhanced by adding margarine to the batter which also adds moisture and fluffiness. Top them with maple syrup, berries and/or a dollop of almond butter.

How to Skin Hazelnuts
Vegan Baking Articles and Guides
How to Skin HazelnutsHazelnuts, also known as filberts usually work best in a recipe when their skins are removed. This is because the skins are bitter and they can alter the look of the final product based on their dark color. There are two ways to skin hazelnuts: the old way and the new way. The old way involves toasting the hazelnuts, wrapping them in a towel and rubbing the skins off. This method doesn't really remove all of the skins, most of which get embedded into the towel. Nice hazelnut towel you got there. Now for the new method.

Bananas work great as a binder due to their natural 'goopyness'.  Keep in mind that whatever you put bananas in will undoubtedly turn into 'banana'-'whatever-the-name-of-your-recipe-is'.  This can be great for things like cakes, pancakes and sweet breads but awkward in things where you're not going for the whole banana thing.  Banana's aren't as powerful binders as Eggless Binder Powder or Flax Binder but they're more powerful than yogurt.
